"Bloody awful" that was my wife's words. Me "you rated it that highly?" Seriously, 10 hours of film was cut down to two hours and a further hour cut have hit the editing suite floor. Weak story. Handled badly by the director, but hey its Jane Campion, so all hail. But no, don't bother watching this. All hail Cumberbatch. But no, he was mis-cast. Seeing him attempt to play a macho role albeit playing an in the closet cowboy, was beyond him. He cannot swagger as was demanded by his "dire rection" (see above) This film bored, try stopping at the one hour mark and try to figure out if you want to watch the remaining hour. Spoiler alert "don't bother"
