Ann Paterson

Having watched all the other "Paradise" series and loved them, I wanted to love the Aussie version, I really did, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. The main character in "Return" is wooden and unlikable. All sharp angles, weird expressions and one set of clothes? I actually thought she was meant to portray someone on the spectrum but my husband tells me that's not the case. The other well known Aussie actors are all good portraying their roles with a relaxed, tongue in cheek, laconic type of humour. And although the scenery is wonderful, the plots are a bit formulaic. It has an odd "Seachange" feel about it which again, should have made me love it, but not so much. I guess if there's nothing better to watch and you want something light, give it a go.

This was a kind of "welcome to my life" movie. Did this for over 30 years and sexual hassment was part of the job. As women you'd think we'd have come further than this...but stand up and you are vilified. Good movie, slow, insightful but very very accurate.

Having read the entire set of 14 books, twice...and watched the series 1 and what is currently avail of S2, apart from the main characters being the sort of the same and the story being similar, the whole series bears very little resemblance to the books at all. It seems like the writers have skimmed the books, grabbed a few salient moments and decided they have a better idea of how to write the story! Madness really as with 12 books to draw from, they hardly need to add storylines that go nowhere and achieve nothing in building a visual view of the story. Even if I hadn't read the books, I would have to wonder if the average viewer understands what's going on because I'm hard pressed to, and I know the story! I find it disjointed and confusing. There is so much that isn't explained by the series it's unfathomable anyone can figure it out. Honestly. If you "love" the series, do yourself a favour and go and read the books... I'm watching it but I can't believe how wrong it feels.
