This is a general review of the sequels too and some of the toxicity of so called "fans" of Star Wars that like 3 movies out of the 9 main episodes.
We're never going to have the 70's hit that was the original Star Wars again, and that's alright. The new trilogy did a great job at expanding the universe and while some original fans may hate the new twist, they also complain on the story being reused. Sounds like what happened when the prequels were released. So which is it? Do they want something cool and new that makes the Star Wars universe bigger (which is risky but then again so is everything the characters do in the movies) or keep the same old plot to appease the old fans (who would inevitably, still complain).
The problem is, these people don't seem to know what they want.
Sticking to the old twists and turns that Star Wars is known for while introducing new characters that the young-lings (like me) can relate to more and enjoy, is the best way to make the sequels. Kids back then used to dream of Leia and now I dream of Rey.
Is it a cash grab? Probably. But every movie hopes to make money and if it's good then quite frankly I don't care. And if the story is interesting, has great characters, humor, and action, then I think it's great. It has its flaws like every movie, but I think many "fans" are prejudice against these new Star Wars movies. The Rise of Skywalker is an excellent finale to the sequels and I hope more is to come to add to the universe.
