I love Dan Walsh’s novels. The Deepest Waters is a story of faith, miracles, survival and God’s love and mercy. Written as fiction but based on some true facts, I had a very hard time putting this book down. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves to read historical fiction. Set in 1857, before the Civil War, this book touches on issues of slavery, however, what I found so remarkable was the faith in God, that Micah had and how he was able to use that faith to show others the love and freedom to be found in God’s saving grace. The faith that John Foster shared with the other men on their shared makeshift life raft was also remarkable. Using the story of the thief on the cross he was able to share the true story of salvation. I am now staring the 2nd book in this series. The Longest Road.
