Beautiful deep and intriguing movie about the grittiest aspects of the human soul. The now more classic style of this movie, with its longer shots and heavy symbolism, may not appeal to a younger audience but I believe that it’s still a worthy watch for those interested in the genre. The characters are well developed and carry the overall simplistic plot forwards, the main characters in particular get all their moments to shine and are well developed, giving insight into surprisingly complex personalities. For a spoiler free review of the plot, it is pretty much what it says on the tin, but by the time the screen faded to black for the last time I was still reeling by how emotionally impactful the ending was.
