If I were to design MW5 Mercs, I would have done things differently, even given sincere limitations.
If we are going to give the player a story told this poorly, why spend any time giving them a story at all?
If we are going to reference and be present for historic events like the formation of the St. Ives Compact and the recovery of the Helm Memory Core, why don't we explain or show them to the player?
If we are going to start the campaign in the 4th Succession War, before the Clan Invasion, why not end with the Clan Invasion?
If we are going to distribute loot randomly, why do we force the player to individually replace broken weapons?
If we are going to have jump jets, why are they hover jets?
If we are building off of the wonderful mech customization in MechWarrior Online, why was it cut down?
If we are in the period where OmniMechs appear, where are they?
If every BattleTech/MechWarrior player has a favorite mech, why make it so tedious to find it for sale?
If give ASF a one-liner story critical mention, why don't we explain what they are? Show what they do? Maybe coordinate with them?
Who is my jumpship? Do I own it?
Why is X conflict region more expensive to work in than Y conflict region?
Why suddenly are the Federated Suns universally weaker than Lyran Commonwealth? Why doesn't the Draconis Combine just crush the Suns into dust with their hordes of unending assault mechs deployed agains the Lyrans?
These are nitpicks. The core game plays great, just a lot of weird choices.
