Tense drama about the ethics of environmental protest and it's repercussions

Looking back at this film, what 35 years on, it should have been a game changer. I remember going to see it twice. I liked the interplay between the chacracters realising their goal was survival. Not necessarily mutal. I liked the vast land(space)scapes. The dialogue was at times ropey but it had a point. This was still in the era of apartheid led South Africa. Global voices were being heard so naturally there is the analogy of the 'alien pirate' scavenging the uncharted space frontier. This film needs to be-leased again so that we can see how far we have come
