Powerful. Painful. It was wonderful to see the father stand by his daughter in a culture than shuns females. The belief that the girl deserved to be raped, or that women put themselves in these types of situations by dressing up a certain way, or wearing makeup is sadly common. In other words, it’s the women's fault that they get raped, rather than looking at and educating the males about respecting the women.
There’s hope at the end of this documentary. And that was encouraging. As I watched the film, I should not have been shocked by some of the comments and the beliefs coming from this culture, but it did make me upset and angry.
