I'm not even halfway through, but to make Depression look like it causes mania (nope, that's Bipolar Disorder!) and/or hallucinations to the point where the mom is known as "crazy" to all characters?
That is offensive and not scientifically factual.
We need better mental health care representation, not more media-pushed fake stereotypes.
If this were more realistic, the daughter would have all the issues from the jump, as she had to deal with her dad leaving, her mum being non-mum- like, AND leaving home at a young age.
But noooo she has to be the young pretty protagonist who just magically does life well 🙄 so cliche American culture. No wonder our country is a failure compared to developed places
