It's just bad. As a Destiny player since day 1, I've bought every single piece of content for the better part of 8 years. Even though some content, expansions, seasons have fallen flat, while some hit it out of the park, I've never felt like Bungie had completely failed. Please gamers is a tough gig, we all know it, sometimes we have to agree to disagree.
Lightfall is an utter and complete failure, and while it does make some quality of life changes, these are features that could have easily been in a seasonal update.
The story is disjointed and nonsensical, it has more plot holes than a should ever get past a team meeting, the gear and play loop continues to decay from content that is aging horribly, and the rewards for time investments are stagnant.
Even Strand, the new, and much-touted Subclass, is a bore with poorly thought cooldown timers and continues the ever-expanding, and very real issues, of power creeping.
Yes, the new location is sparse, with barely any connection with its inhabitants, you can understand why so many people are talking about it, but worse than the emptiness, is how absolutely boring the city is. Meaningless, nameless neon structures are everywhere and, again, not much of it makes sense with its own canon reasoning.
This entire expansion of a blatant play on one thing, and thing only, Destiny players are addicts and we'll buy whatever we're told to. If Bungie tells us, this is the beginning of the end, we'll buy into it. And we did.
But with expansions, and lies like these, you have to wonder how much longer they can keep it up?
