I'm stunnned- i was about 11/12 when Wire came out so i fell for it later and to date i think there's been few better social commentaries on issues which still rule today...so to have THIS meet expectation...hit as sharply...on issues ever more grey, complex, unconfronted and intimidating...i am just heart broken I am going to have to wait years to see the full gargantuan scale of DS's illumination and challenge to some of the most vital social & political questions of our time...
Thank GOD he is back in the present and back in Baltimore (no disresct to the Deuce whatsoever) but it's like if William Blake had just stuck to engraving- it might be brilliant but we need Simon's eyes and voice on the issues going on NOW
and BOY tackling stuff like this, GF, BLM, the police...he deserves credit and praise- and even more so bc he is tackling this stuff and we can be sure he is not pandering, using buzz political issues for status and ratings as the The Wire predated George Floyd, popular BLM movement and yet Simons heart was right in there amongst so much vital other stuff
