I haven't a clue how some people believe this is a 5 star movie. But to each their own I suppose.
It's colourful and has a very large cast in it. But the story didn't seem well developed and didn't dig into much of the connection from the real world and the Barbie world and how one affects the other.
There are some funny jokes in there and did find myself laughing at a few bits. But otherwise, the whole thing seemed rather sporadic and all over the place.
There are a few underlying messages in the movie both good and bad, but they aren't made clear for perhaps younger audiences to take on board. Myself and my other half had to have an hour long discussion regarding what we believed the messages were whilst trying to figure out what the movie was actually about. I suppose that will be for yourself decide as I believe others may interpret it differently.
Disappointed overall, but I can see the appeal to some people and younger audiences.
Overall, I would wait until this is released on streaming platforms to watch as we watched it in the cinema but it's not something you need to pay particular attention and is more of an easy watch for a bit of fun.
