This one's a Classic. One of the best shows on T.V. , EVER. 7 seasons, (watched twice with a gap of 5 years) and the show never felt jaded or over extended. How many period, drama TV Series can claim to have achieved this without any major plot or cliffhangers that most shows, with so many seasons, resort to.
I love the writing, the production, the casting, the sound-track and the complex, nuanced characters - portrayed so humanly. The show is set in the 60's at an advertising firm and beautifully captures a society in flux. It touches upon many, important themes and historic events of that time . One of the biggest appeals of the show is how the several characters in the show grapple with life and all its complications. It is so authentic that at some point in the show , many of us will relate to and empathise with them even if we don't really like them. There are dark moments - especially with Don, one of the main character's, who is always on the brink of disaster. But the show handles this masterfully , with an authenticity and a sense of humour (the laugh-out-loud kind) which makes it both a compelling and easy watch.
I LOVE Mad Men and simply cannot get enough of it !
