Imaginatively confused.
I think the film did really well to create a context of discomfort with the route of abuse with Peter and his parents. I think they should’ve leant more into this storyline as it kept me on the edge of my seat, similarly to The Visit, it’s really difficult to create a new monster that is genuinely terrifying and they showcased why.
I don’t know if this was the cinema just very loud today but I was huge fan of the way they used sound to create tension and control the emotions of the film.
Overall I think it was a good beginning and middle for a low budget movie. The ending leaves you wanting to know what the outcome is, what happens to the characters? What happens to the house? It just felt like it was cut short.
