I will start this post by saying thank you to both Kerry Washington, Kenny Leon for their work on producing the Netflix movie, American Son. American Son is based on a Play by Christopher Demos-Brown. This painfully relatable story has brought my heart to a momentary halt. I am not yet sure if I relate more to the profile of the son in the film or the reality of navigating the world as a black man who at first glance could appear threating. This movie takes the mind on a journey that more HUMANS need to travel. Hate, as shown in the movie, is not the answer. It is understanding. It is forgiveness. It is humanity. Please take the time to experience this film.
