I was really looking forward to this album because I LOVED the song Daddy Lessons from the Lemonade album. Ive been saying how Beyoncé should make a country album for years, but this was just an huge letdown in all fronts. It’s not good as country. It’s not good as R&B. It’s not good as pop. After five solid listens, I can honestly say that nothing really stuck. I had no urge to replay any of the songs, and it doesn’t sound country enough for its how it was marketed. “But it isn’t supposed to be country”… okay, then why wear country and western clothing and call it “Cowboy Carter”? Why have so many country artists featuring on the album? However, regardless of genre, it’s a flop.
