The last quarter of the film leaves you with a lingering discomfort and makes it feel better than it was. Lots of good ideas and it was beautiful to watch. Unfortunately, the lead up to that point, I found highly irritating. A group of suicide squad (were they military trained?) misfits (?) go in to the unknown with all the discipline and tactical thinking of a bunch of teenage girls. I just didn't believe the non-sci-fi dialogue and reasoning. Worth watching but a missed opportunity....

Thrilling, stirring, sorrowful. An amazing piece of work which raised the film to another level. I hope Newman finally gets a deserving Oscar
