In one word, insane! ❤️ But actually a bizarre, blatantly humorous and rather an emotional film on the multiverse madness made in probably half of a Marvel movie budget from the Daniels. (Spoiler-free reaction below).
Michelle Yeoh at 60+ plays a middle-aged immigrant woman and shows off unparalleled acting and her Kung Fu skills from 'Crouching Tiger' days in epic action sequences. Watching Ke Huy Quan's endearing performance after 20 years was an added bonus.
Loved the layers of pop culture and movie references (to Ratatouille, In the Mood for Love, Matrix). Loved how the daughter is named 'Joy' and is actually an agent of chaos.
Underneath the crazy cinematography and all that thematic darkness, what I was left with was a wholesome message on how to choose kindness. As the name of the film suggests, I did feel "everything... all at once".
Pro-tip: Just like Yeoh's Evelyn gets a message from the Alpha universe, "don't forget to breathe" as you watch this genre-bending story unfold. 😃
