This is among my favorite Monk and jazz albums. I bought a vinyl copy when I was 15 and still have it in my collection. For me, Monk's playing mirrors the work of the Abstract Expressionists, and I've tried to capture his approach to the keyboard in cut-paper collages that I create. His music has such great color and texture.
