There may be a good movie in here somewhere, but what I watched ain’t it. Upsides: genre, KC, costumes, scenery/cinematography. Downsides: story clarity, dialogue, editing, run time, pacing, originality. Overall, the entire production seemed rushed, like they didn’t have time to fine tune dialogue or edit down scenes to tell a coherent, engaging story. A few times I thought I must have dozed off or simply spaced an important plot point, but no. Most of the pivotal scenes (like when the Indians invaded the village or the lead up to the bad guy getting shot) could be re-edited in a much more compelling way leaving at least a few minutes on the cutting room floor. Finally, this story so far feels very much like multiple other narratives, such as 1883, Would love to see a meaningful, new twist in future installments.
