This is a great Christmas film, with a moving and unusual story. It is not mushy or over sentimental like many - if not most - American Christmas films. It is a story of hope, and captures the Spirit of Christmas, and the possibility of miracles perfectly. I watched it a number of times on mainstream TV, then recorded it, watching it again many times, even in Summertime lol. Then I accidentally erased it, but luckily it was available on DVD, and it is played a dozen times a year. I love showing it to people who haven't seen it, without giving away the story, and invariably they are deeply moved by it. I have had grown men crying haha. A lovely film, great acting, gives a real Christmassey buzz, and also makes you think about things a bit. Perfect holiday viewing.

Absolutely excellent. Sir Donald is as camp as ever, showing us around, and with some amusing anecdotes, and some silly ones which make you wince. But that's Sir Donald's style isn't it haha? Great insights backstage, full historical detail. Fascinating series - can't wait for the London Palladium one - should be a masterpiece.

Violent and repetitive thuggery, spoil what is a true story. No attempt to glamourise these two men, but something is missing from the way it is presented. Content is well researched and fairly accurate, pub scenes are interesting shots of contemporary social history, but the whole film has a cheap, shabby feel to it.
