If you are a fan of Jane Austen and of this novel, you will think this movie is a dog. It has lost all grace, wit, depth, and intelligence. Knightley is pretty but empty headed and can barely spit out a line. The supporting cast is aimless. The scenes set with moblike numbers senseless. I give a pass to MacFayden who seems as though he knows and likes the book and is ashamed to be in this dreadful rendition.
Watch Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth for a near perfect reading. Or straight to Jane Austen for the undiluted masterpiece.
