Brilliant. Heartbreaking. Eschews easy sentimentality for genuine emotion. Seen so many movies/plays where the much loved daughter turns out to be the one the old man sexually abused, fully expected psychologically broken women to be in some home somewhere. So glad this film didn’t go down that twisty road, or any gaslighty kind of deal, or indeed any twisty road. Just a remarkable piece of work.

If they told me that my watching this film again would solve world hunger, cure cancer, bring John Lennon and George Harrison back to life and reunite the Beatles, I’d have to think very carefully about it.
