One of the better movies I've seen.
I'll have some wine and enjoy it again. :)
Kya has a beautiful depth to her soul largely forged through trials she's encountered.
Her strength and resilience come out of a life of life holding many scars from a young age.
I wouldn't say Kya has issues trusting people so much as her deep-cutting intuition has the ability to read right through superficialities.
Where most people go along with these things or try all the harder to fit in, it disgusts her.
It's interesting to note the contrast of character traits:
Kya to the many individuals within the community. (Kya has far more admirable character traits than the affluent children in the nearby community).
Chase to Tate.
Chase craves his own gratification. Kya comes to see right through his manipulation and overly controlling behavior .
Tate genuinely cares for Kya and the relationship isn't always perfect , but it's the honesty, trust, integrity and self-sacrifice that enable the relationship to heal and be saved.
Had Tate not experienced grief of his own, he wouldn't have been able to understand and appreciate Kya for her true self.
A movie worth watching. Don't be too quick to judge a person's heart or intents
... Especially if you haven't even spent time with them.
Maybe hardships and trials aren't all bad if character is developed, and if it enables us to empathize and form much deeper relationships with those whom we care about.
