I recently completed Shattered Space, and overall, it was a challenging experience with a wealth of content and an extensive storyline that made it enjoyable to play. However, there are notable drawbacks worth discussing.
This DLC I was most looking forward to, my expectations were high. Unfortunately, I found some aspects disappointing, particularly concerning the character of Andreja. I’ve always been intrigued by her storyline and have pursued her in nearly every playthrough. Yet, her dialogue and behavior often felt contradictory. In the main game, she portrays a fierce attitude, but when the player makes questionable choices, her reactions can be harsh. I had hoped the DLC would delve deeper into her character, but I found her to be surprisingly underutilized. She hardly spoke throughout the playthrough, and when she did, it didn’t relate to the DLC’s core narrative. For instance, while she had an opinion on how to handle the Ryjuin storyline, there was no mention of her home planet, which felt like a significant missed opportunity. Given the weight of her backstory, it was frustrating to see such an important part of her life go unaddressed.
Another issue was the lack of resting spots at vendors. After selling items, I found it cumbersome to manage my inventory with no convenient place to pause and continue trading. The sheer amount of gear and materials in the DLC led me to abandon the effort of organizing my ship, opting instead to focus on gameplay.
In summary, while Shattered Space was a fun experience that didn’t entirely meet my expectations, it certainly has its merits. It could have been more refined, particularly regarding character development and inventory management, but I still enjoyed my time with it.
