Detailed account of 1980’s Glasgow and you desperately want little Shuggie and his mum to prevail but I found this story to be depressing and repetitive and therefore won’t recommend to anyone. It was very hard going and I didn’t look forward to reading it. It became a chore I felt I must finish. Much nicer books to read out there that make bed times something to look forward to.
