This movie gave audiences a new perspective on Mulan while being faithful and loyal to the animated film. There are MANY individuals who are very strong about not watching it because of the absence of mushu and the musical atmosphere, as well as other reasons. Here is my stance on the movie:
The Live-Action Mulan film was loyal to the original story line, brave in executing a revival of a beloved film, and true to the morals of the film.
Although the visual effects could of been improved, It brought the magical aspect of the film alive.
The costume design in the film was spot - oscar. It brought audiences a taste of traditional Chinese culture as the animated movie did as well.
The soundtrack was beautiful and intense throughout all parts of the movie.
Overall, I loved the movie. I think children of this generation, who have not watched the original film, will enjoy this movie. It gave Disney a huge consideration in bringing more Asian/Asian-American stories on the big screen.
