I was so looking forward to seeing my two favourite actresses in a quality English film and then the WOKE squad ruined it for me. The film is set in 1920s quiet English coastal town and yet had an Asian WPC, the first of which was in London in 1971. The first Caribbean immigrants came with the Windrush in 1948 and yet here he is as Jessie's squeeze. Both not needed and detracted from the otherwise lovely genuine feel of the film.
