Loved the original 1988 film. Rachel Weisz is one of my favorite actresses. So disappointed to find that this remake was virtually unwatchable. A script that was so poorly written I could barely make sense of it. Endless and pointless cursing. Annoying political talking points inserted into the dialog in every scene. Characters who were so unlikable that I wanted to see them all run over by a bus. A medical practice that bore no resemblance to anything on this planet. Characters saying and doing things that were utterly senseless and/or unbelievable. Tried hard to like it. Gave up midway through the third episode. Might be useful in breaking the will of hard-core terrorists at Guantanamo, if we could force them to watch it.

I wanted to like it. I really did. Was looking forward to seeing Gilian Anderson on the screen again. The pace was painfully slow. Plot somewhat incomprehensible. Unintentionally hilarious towards the end. Perhaps the lesson here is that writing a modern Poe story is harder than anyone thought; Poe made it look easy because he had a brilliant talent. Better luck next time.
