I feel indifferent about this book.
I liked the imagery of the Last Stop Before the Drop because it helped Winter understand that she was in hell and had to make a decision about what to do next. I felt (somewhat) like the purgatory can be a real place that souls/people end up to make amends and peace with their worldly lives- or not and be dropped.
I agree with some others reviews that stated that Winter should have grown up and matured from her prison sentence. I read The Coldest Winter Ever as a young teenager and was annoyed to read ANOTHER book about a grown woman that is still up to the same old nonsense and foolishness. I wanted to root for her so bad!
She spends 15 years in a mandatory sentence and learned NOTHING? Being the baddest and rich is just all that matters??? Even when your dead? Did she really have to not spend any of that time in prison remembering being abused and taken advantage of by men and what the severe consequences of chasing money and possessions bought on her??? And all that is just okay with her?
So after all that, when she did get what she wanted all along, she finally began to grow as a person. I liked how she didn’t have to lie, cheat, or steal her way to her success at the very end. But it felt rushed. I wish her progress would have been a more central part of the book.
