I just watched an amazing journey of the Monarch Butterfly. It leaves Canada around September and migrates to the south as depicted by David Suzuki in the Sunday night edition of The Nature of Things (Apr 7th 2019 edition). Well known movie actor Gordon Pinsent was also featured in this edition as a Monarch Butterfly researcher. I was totally confused by the presentation which depicted that the Monarch departs Canada from a Toronto back yard yet makes no mention of Point Pelee, the Point Pelee National Park, or the City of Leamington Ontario, the true jumping off point of the Monarch Butterfly. What was accurately mentioned in the presentation is Mexico and Texas. Tourism in Canada is an important and vital industry that Mr. Suzuki and Mr. Pinsent both Canadians completely missed. The opportunity to promote this amazing occurrence while at the same time promote our Canada should have been front and centre in this presentation and not the city of Toronto.
