My family and I , have been a fans of the Planet of the Apes franchise for years. This movie has been specifically disappointing and disgusting. The point of the Planet of the Apes is to showcase the faults of humanity and how we should respect animals. Within the first 15 minutes there was so much unnecessary animal cruelty scenes such as the electrocution of a horse, the ripping of organs, and the stabbing of baby apes. I had to leave because seeing such gory scenes has no place in a PG-13 movie and should not be justified to make a point (especially in the opening). It is very sad to see a theatre being so full and being desensitized to such strong visuals of carnage. Planet of the Apes is no longer a franchise I support.
