To be honest I was really disappointed by the film. After the original trilogy, they have now ruined the franchise by creation this movie. I think it had a good concept, but it wasn’t explorer enough. All of the songs were in a similar style and it was boring. I think there were maybe 3 songs that I actually enjoyed. The side characters weren’t built on enough and should’ve been explored more. The cast portrayed the characters well however. Overall this movie felt incomplete and rushed. Very disappointing for someone who was a big fan of the original trilogy and I hope if they’re going to make another Descendants movie, that they put more effort into it and develop the characters. One thing I forgot to mention is that it felt like they took what could’ve been a movie about a regular high school and made it into Descendants. This movie needed to be better and I am really upset they ruined the franchise for me. The cast were amazing, even if they weren’t the original cast. I have never hated a movie but I think this might just be the one movie I will hate. I’ve read a couple of other reviews and seen people commenting on that it’s supposed to be a kids movie. I know it is and I am technically a kid myself but come on. The other 3 movies all felt like they were meant for slightly older kids (maybe 12). The colours and the overall plot made me feel like this movie is meant for kids aged 8.
