READ MY REVIEW ONLY IF YOU HAVE DOUBTS BECAUSE OF NAYSAYERS!
If you want to go enjoy, go enjoy! If you want to go criticise, don't go; you will ruin your time, the actors' image and everyone's mood!
1- Talk about realistic action; to those who say the actions in Pathan are not realistic, I wholly agree! The actions are not whatsoever realistic. Yet, I ask you, when has it ever been? Mission impossible, James bond, many stunts were done in those 'realistic' movies but many effects as well were used and these effects could not happen in real life. You chose to turn a blind eye then or were you simply ignorant of the impossibility of these effects?Talking with people who experienced such events in real life, they confirmed such things are impossible. How many times have we seen James Bond getting off from close explosions with just his suits? In real life, the shockwave would have blasted his insides, shards and shrapnels would have perforated organs and that'sjust the tip of the iceberg. Plus, that's a general example, wait till we analyze specific scene by scene. The fact is Hollywood chooses to focus on making these scenes realistic to make you believe it can happen, Bollywood chooses to focus on the same scenes with an exaggerated sense of drama and slow motion combined with epic music. A jumping-flying over buildings actor in Hollywood is as much as wired as in Bollywood,
just Bollywood makes him fly a bit more in slow motion. Watching behind the scenes stunts of Bollywood movies is the same as Hollywood. None of it makes it more real than the other. Anyway, how is MCU or Pirates of the Caribbean more real than a spy thriller; just they decided to focus on making it believable and scientifically propable and Pathan decided to make its action over-dramatic to deepen your thrill.
2- The music was terrific; if you were expecting some classical opera Mozart song, or 90s classic Bollywood songs, you obviously are in the wrong place. You know Pathan is an action thriller, naturally the loud music will be designed to make your heart pound, more like a disco beat than a classic violin note. Do not complain lack of traditional songs. This is not DDLJ. You knew what you signed up for. Know what to expect!
3- Movies are all about moods. Sometimes you feel like watching something dark, sometimes a comedy without concentration or sometimes a mind-gripping Christopher Nolan movie. Know your mood. If you are in the mood to watch something realistic or something, don't waste your time going to see Pathan. Go see it another time you feel like it.
You can naturally disagree with my opinion but at the end of the day, following my arguments is the most optimistic since everyone is winning. Disagree, you yourself will end up being in a foul mood or be wasting your time!
