I picked this book purely on the title. My curiosity always leads me down the right path and again, this was one of the good choices I made. I have some negatives though. Let's start with that. Half the book was the main character's biography, sharing his opinions and his past and future plans. However throughout all of that, the message that stood out for me was it's impossible for a crazy person to heal a fellow crazy person. Which is ironic as to how many of us are insane in our own way. And I think that's what the book brought out well, the effects of our childhood and the person we grow to become. The decisions we make. The intensity of our feelings and how we are "contained" by them(referred in the book). That's already one good. At first, I thought I'd fall in love with the patient but rather I found myself overwhelmed with too much of the main character, dare I say, the author. There's a difference between describing something fairly well and knowing exactly what it is. And That's what Alex gave us. His choice of words pierced through the heart, the pace was just right, and his writing style....let's talk about that. Timing. The twists were timed perfectly! As I'd mentioned earlier, it does have a slow start and your curiosity can only lead you so far. The minute you think of putting it down, is the minute the words lure you into another bomb. Perfect timing! Not only that but Alex has mastered a way of providing you with an opportunity to create all the theories you want, just for them to be proved wrong. He took a completely different approach to your typical 'predictable' story. Again, exceptional timing! It has no doubtably lived up to the word "thriller". A good book I must say. It's one that gets you thinking. Not only did this book gives us an unforgettable story but unforgettable reminders about human nature and the dangerous capabilities of the emotions we hold.
