I felt like the producers, writers and directors took the 1984 script, replaced anything good with goofy, nonsensical over-the-top junk and told the cast to run with it.
The script seemed to be forced and very impromptu, just saying something... anything... to keep from having dead air. The inventor of a device (which is clearly a sex-toy with lights) states, "Wow! I didn't even know it did that, guys!" Come on. You invented it, you know what it does and does not do.
The plot of the movie was to reboot and reinvent the idea of Ghostbusters, while dropping Easter eggs to the original in every other scene, while making the audience feel grossly uncomfortable having people act outside of what should be normal character.
Instead of making a good movie that audiences should love, we targeted a very specific demographic and made a movie just for those people and then promoted it to the whole world - "Look at this trash we made!"
