This has to be the worse flick I have ever watched. There was absolutely no continuity all the way (non-stop) to the movie's conclusion. Nothing made sense and the storyline accomplished nothing. I wonder if the novel was of better substance but defaced by poor screenwriting, adaptations, and omissions. The only thing that kept me around waiting for something to happen was the star-studded cast, who I wonder how much they were compensated to defame themselves in this terrible production- for it definitely wasn't for their love of the art. I've lived in Costa Rica for the past two decades, a country which I am also a citizen of now. I can tell you that in 1984 there were more than two hotels in San Jose. I would have to believe that the Costa Ricans will not be thrilled in how their country was depicted in this film- and they will find out- because Netflix is a big thing down here since we got electricity last year. Further, Costa Rica wasn't even remotely involved in the Contra Affair as implied in this film. In fact, weapons were not even being smuggled into Nicarauga, rather to Iran by the US via Israel, and a portion of the proceeds of the weapon sales were used to fund the Contras, who were trying to overturn the Sandinista gov't.
