In the beginning my heart broke for this Mom. Seeing her pain. I liked her and her sweet daughters. Filmed in and interesting almost confusing way that made me watch closer. As the story is being told by the mom, I realize she has a very controlling side that reaches quite abusive with her girls. The husband is also abused and turns very abusive to the girls. They only have each other. The abusive environment drives the two older girls to run away and join Islamic extremists movements. The two remaining daughters are asked if they would choose the same parent if they had a choice, and NO was the answer, even though they care deeply for their Mom. Confusing and complicated. I hope the daughters can break the cycle. Who knows how the Mom grew up. Guessing in an abusive household. Complicated and sad with some joy mixed in.
