The absolutely best that Brazilian cinema has to offer. Pixote is a heartbreaking coming of age story of a young adolescent having to navigate through the broken justice system of the late 70’s Brazil. It’s raw and brutally honest, based on the book by Jose Loureiro, a journalist who abandoned his career after he got censored by the Brazilian dictatorship while trying to publish an article about how the justice system of Brazil was brutalizing young males. He then published his book that would serve as an inspiration to Pixote.
Good for fans of 400 blows and Menace II Society.
