One of the worst book-movie adaptations I’ve ever seen. Barely anything from the book happened in the movie other than a few names carried over and a few similar moments. Lina’s character was made horribly annoying and painfully awkward in the movie. She wasn’t supposed to be short, dark skinned, and have SUPER curly hair. Did this happen? NO. I get some character look changes but the book continuously talked about her looks.(I won’t ruin why it’s so significant in case you didn’t read the book) sooo many things from the book didn’t even happen. Howard and her place she stayed at (which were so important to the plot) didn’t even happen! I don’t think this should even have the same name as the book. Sorry to the creators of the movie but this is such a sad rendition for readers who enjoyed the book. Also, even if I didn’t read the book, the cliche things that happen are so over the top cringy. A tourist in a horrible outfit dresses like it’s 2007 walks around and all of a sudden a pretty local guy flirts and says he likes how she stares at the statues?… ummm all tourists stare at things and locals don’t care about how they stare😂this is like a 6 year old girls fantasy in her dreams😂😂
