The show, for the first 6-7 episodes, had me yearning for more. Plotwise, as well as character-wise. There were the makings of brilliant characters, yet the actual strength of direction and acting came through in the last 2 episodes of the show which tied the entire series together and finished it off with a neat little bow.
Agreed, that the show did not have the gripping graphics and horror associated with its former counterpart, but the tragic tale of love - lived and lost in all its possible forms was something I will come back to again.
And while there wasn't much "horror" induced while viewing the show, the brilliant direction shown through again with the same intensity as was in The Haunting of Hill House - only displayed differently.
If I remember The Haunting of Bly Manor; it won't be for the plot that is suggested by the title but for the actors, the direction and the bittersweet ending that had me yearning for more, but also satiated.
