I played the original. That was 20 years ago. And it was better than this. Let's start with the look of the game. It's very colourful. Brash. On fact, overly so. It's so brash and colourful it's actually difficult to see what's going on. Not a good trait in a turn based tactical game. The missions are repetitive, and really, a bit of a bore at times. They don't fit into the strategic level with any sense of connection. You only have 4 Knights, ever. Not much to build a team around. They are easily injured. Their armour is poor, their guns are mostly outranged and their melee weapons not much better. Only later in the game, through careful choices of gear and in the experience tree, does this change. Then it tips the other way as I used my top exp range guys to blast away 4 level bosses in a row. The strategy is poor, with no real choices that are going to make a difference. The NPC's will go in the huff if you make a decision they don't like. This would be funny apart from the fact that it can screw up research and repair plus lots of other things. Because that's what would happen if humanity's fate was on the line. Senior officers would go and sulk while planets burn. Its pathetic and whoever came up with it should be fired for stupidity. There are many far better games of this type out there. Mutant Year Zero for example. This is just flashy garbage.
