This is an imperfect-but-creditable movie. Hunted vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) seeks out Marcus, king of the Vampires, in the hope of bargaining for her life. Hybrid Michael wants to join Selene in her quest but is unable to trust the werewolf raging uncontrolled inside him, and she refuses his companionship. Their love proves more powerful than genetics, however, when Marcus descends upon Selene, intent on annihilating her. In the battle that ensues, Selene discovers that she has been betrayed. This is the second film in the series. Filming took place in Vancouver, Canada. The third movie called Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, was released on January 23, 2009.

This is a solid but bizarre movie. After his girlfriend of six months ditches him for a rude ski jock, high school student Lane (John Cusack) decides suicide is the only answer. However, his increasingly inept attempts, bring him only more agony and embarrassment. When he meets the French exchange student (Diane Franklin) staying with a neighbor, his outlook starts to improve. Howard Cosell was hired in 1970 by ABC to be a commentator for Monday Night Football. He died in 1995 at the age of 77. The Dodgers had moved to Los Angeles by 1958. The movie's final scene was shot at Dodger Stadium. Some of the skiing scenes were shot at Snowbird, in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. During the sword fight with ski poles, the Mid Gad ski lift at Snowbird is plainly visible.

This is an imperfect-but-creditable movie. Just an oddball mama’s boy from the back bayous of Louisiana, Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler) never wanted anything more than to quench the thirst of the dehydrated football players, even though they treat him like dirt. But when Coach Klein tells him to stand up for himself, it unleashes a torrent of pent-up frustration and exposes his talent for tackling. Sandler co-produced and co-wrote the film. This became his second $100 million film in a year, along with The Wedding Singer and helped him to become a recognized actor. Sandler's character is portrayed as a stereotypical cajun from the swamps of south Louisiana. The NCAA had been restrictive to home schooled students wanting to play collegiate sports, but they changed their policies in 2004 to make it easier to qualify. The movie was shot in Florida.

This is an okay movie. Mitch McDeere (Tom Cruise) is a brilliant and ambitious Harvard Law graduate. Driven by a fierce desire to forget his working-class past, Mitch joins a small, prosperous Tennessee firm offering Mitch and his wife an affluent lifestyle. But when FBI agents suggest to him there is corruption and murder within the firm, Mitch sets out to uncover the evidence even if it puts his family in danger from the Mafia. It is based on the 1991 book by John Grisham, which helped him to gain wider recognition. Gene Hackman's name does not appear in the credits or on the movie poster. In the novel, Mitch never tells Abby about his infidelity. It was originally Eddie's previous secretary Tammy who seduced Avery in the Caribbean. Filming occurred at Owen Brennan's Restaurant and Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. This was the largest grossing R-rated movie of 1993 and of any film based off of a Grisham novel.

This is an imperfect-but-creditable movie. Champion boxer Butch Coolidge (Bruce Willis) has decided to reverse his decision on a bribe. Honey Bunny and Pumpkin (Tim Roth) are a young couple and small time thieves who decide they need a change of venue. Meanwhile, two career criminals, Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules (Samuel L. Jackson), go about their daily business of shooting up other crooks who are late on payments to their boss. The plot, in keeping with most of Tarantino's other works, is presented out of chronological sequence. The film's title refers to the pulp magazines and hardboiled crime novels popular during the mid-20th century, known for their graphic violence and pithy dialogue. The film revitalized the career of its leading man, John Travolta. In most markets unfamiliar with imperial measurements, the Quarter Pounder is known as the Hamburger Royale or McRoyal, in France it is officially called a Royal Cheese.

This is an okay movie. Professor Dorr (Tom Hanks) is a loquacious charlatan who has assembled a gang of experts for the heist of the century from a casino. The thieves are experts in explosions and tunneling. The professor is their critical inside man. The base of operations is the root cellar of an unsuspecting, church-going, old lady named Mrs. Munson. The five men claim they need a place to practice their church music, but it quickly becomes evident that Dorr's thieves lack the mental capacity to do the job. This is a remake of the 1955 movie starring Alec Guinness. Previously Ethan had always been credited as producer, and Joel as director, but in this movie the Coen brothers shared both jobs. The setting of the film was moved from London to Saucier, Mississippi. This city is on the southern coast and has a population of around 1300. The movie was actually shot about 150 miles west in Natchez to take advantage of the Mississippi River.

This is a solid movie. In 1899 Professor Alexander Hartdegen (Guy Pearce) loses his fiancée in a park when a robber shoots her. Afterwards he spends his time in seclusion trying to build a time machine in order to save her. After the device is built, he realizes he cannot change the outcome and decides to go into the future. His final destination is 800,000 year later, when the human race has evolved into two separate species. It is fascinating to imagine what the future will hold. The reason he wasn’t able to save Emma is because her death led him to build the time machine. It is based on the 1895 novel by H.G. Wells and is a remake of the 1960 film starring Rod Taylor. This film was directed by Simon Wells, who is the great-grandson of the original author. The location, romantic back story, and artificial librarian were new additions not in the novel.

This is a moderate Thai movie. Kham's (Tony Jaa) life is turned upside down when an international mafia syndicate, based in Australia, shoots his father and captures their two beloved elephants. The animals were being prepared to be presented as a token of devotion to the King of Thailand. The only way Kham can possibly save the animals is by venturing into a foreign land for the first time. With the help of a Thai police Sergeant based in Australia, he takes on the ruthless gang of Madame Rose. The movie case mentions Quentin Tarantino, but he did not direct, produce, or write the film. Madame Rose is a transsexual in the original story and so is the actor who plays her. Nathan Jones is a professional Australian wrestler. A body double portrays Jackie Chan in the Sydney airport. There is product placement in the film for M-150 energy drink. The fighting style shown in the movie is known as Muay Thai (Thai Boxing). This is the most successful Thai film released in the US.

This is a solid movie. John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Grey (Vince Vaughn) are divorce mediators. During the summer they like to visit random weddings in order to meet single women. At the biggest wedding of the season, John falls for the daughter of the US Secretary of Treasury (Christopher Walken), but she already has a boyfriend. Her younger, clingy sister soon attaches herself to Jeremy. When the two friends visit the family’s huge estate, they are in for an unusual weekend. The main reason for the R-rating is the language, but there is also a little nudity. Political commentator James Carville and Senator John McCain both appear in the film talking to the Secretary of the Treasury. Filming took place in Washington, D.C., the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and Maryland's Eastern Shore. In 2007 NBC had a reality show called The Real Wedding Crashers that ran for 4 episodes.

This is a solid movie. A former gang member (Tony Bravo) witnesses a drive-by shooting and after consulting with a detective encourages the gangs to settle their differences in a boxing ring instead. The movie looks like it was filmed with a camcorder, but the action and dialogue are not rushed, but are very methodical. In the end the gangs decide to fight with their fists instead of with guns. There would be a lot fewer deaths and violence with this approach. A few of the scenes take place in a Catholic Church. It is sad and perilous when gang members, and even those in the mafia, believe while they kill without remorse that they will still be saved through the grace of Jesus Christ.
