Regardless of his arguments against climate change and his fairly exhaustive footnotes, bibliography, etc., as a novel, the story and characters simply aren't compelling or even vaguely interesting. The endless set-ups to provide himself with a soapbox are highly contrived and artificial. And, at 700 plus pages (not including all the end-notes), this novel is far too long. I felt the only worthwhile contribution was, in fact, his observations and references after the novel itself.
