A24 has really sponsored and given a lot of people free tickets to go watch/hype up this movie from videos I've seen online, and I should've done my research before going to see it. It was alright. Not scary at all. They did put a lot of detail into making the ghosts look gory/realistic and make them look dead but it was one of those things that after the initial glance of the ghosts, it wasn't scary anymore. (Spoiler Alert) I didn't like how they made the main girl's character so one dimensional where she lost her mom and believes the ghost is her mom no matter what even after being told multiple times that after 90 seconds they will want to stay and if you die (aka they possess you and try to make your body die) then they own your soul. Not for one second did she question that hey maybe I should use my brain a little and feel confused. The ending was predictable and I'm not mad at it because as a human you're not going to miraculously solve all the problems, but I wish they looked into it a more. There were only a few scenes of the hand coming from a medium, but that was it?? No one else tried to find out anything else? It wasn't scary, promoted, and hyped up, and I'm just disappointed.
