I was always a fan of Cornwall's early novels. Pacy thrillers like 'Body of Evidence' were my favourites and I'd declared myself a devoted reader of her books. Fast forward to 'Livid' and it's hard to believe Cornwall has ever written a thriller in her life. I am halfway through the book and the plot has not moved forwards. A tedious court trial and too long exposition has left the story very flat. No pace. Like other readers have said, maybe it's time to retire Scarpetta.
