This movie should be rated PG-13 as the content is leaning more towards teens than small children. It shows a teenage girl disrespecting, lying, and sneaking out and all that is ok because it has made her friends proud of her. It turns the mother into an over reacting monster that gives the message that parents just don’t understand kids. At one point the dad reassures the teen that having a bad side is ok and how that bad side also needs to nurtured. The creators claim this movie is about normalizing the transition of prepubescent female kids into teens going through puberty but there is so much more than that in this movie that is claiming to be PG. I would definitely suggest watching it alone before letting your super young kids watch it because it might give them the idea that parents don’t understand and overreact and how being bad and disrespectful is ok behavior especially when your friends are proud of you for the way you’re acting against your parents.
