Written by an American journalist who covered the rise of Hitler in 1930 to the first year of WW 2, while living in Europe, much of it in Germany, William Shirer was able to capture the mood of the times. He had that rare ability to turn history into something akin to a thriller.

An excellent account of the forgotten role of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm in the final months of WW2 in the Pacific. One only hears of the American effort, which by virtue of weight of aircraft carriers and aircraft, played the major role. But the contribution by those Fleet Air Arm pilots was out of all proportion to their numbers - and their losses were grim. They were brave men.

An excellent read, not only about a great soldier, but about what it takes to be a successful sniper: iron-hard patience under difficult conditions; an ability to 'sense the moment', to remain hidden, mental toughness, skilled shooting to ensure 'the kill', personal discipline. If Sergeant Harrison wrote this on his own, he is not only a better than good soldier, he is a good author as well. Any aspiring snipers must read this first.
