Helen Madden

I loved this book. I felt very close to the characters and I was living some of their lives with them. Milkman was a selfish egotist and he had very little empathy with others until his father, then his mother and aunt, began to tell their stories, which he found very uncomfortable and disturbing to his life. When he went on his journey of greed, to find some gold, he began to understand his family and other people. Very well worth reading.
