It still amazes me just how much power and finesse Olivia Coleman can bring to any scene. This was just a brilliant film and for an arty film 2hrs felt like twenty mins. It felt claustrophobic but I’m not too uncomfortable way. It was deeply poignant and thought provoking. Guilt, shame and facing up to the past. All performances were just so tone perfect. Even the sometime overwrought Ed Harris was pitch perfect. A brilliant film. The book must be even better, Maggie G did a truly remarkable job at writing and directing this. Brilliant scene structure, no fat just in and out get to the main point and don’t leave us bored.
